KITCHENER WATERLOO, [December 18, 2023] – Skate Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have announced eight figure skaters for the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games, including Kitchener Waterloo Skating Club's Caroline Kravets and Jacob Stark in the Ice Dance category.
Chosen based on their showing at the junior international competitions in 2023 and the age requirement for these Games, Kravets, 15, and Stark, 17, debuted at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Budapest last September, securing their spot for the upcoming event.
Scheduled from January 27 to February 1, 2024, at the Gangneung Ice Arena, the duo will represent Canada in this prestigious competition, showcasing their talents on the same stage that hosted figure skating during the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
Anabelle Langlois-Hay, Technical Director at KWSC, expressed pride, stating, "This is a great opportunity for Caroline and Jacob to gain more experience at the international level. Congratulations to them and their coaching team, Paul MacIntosh, Tyler Morris, and their support coaches, for all the work they’ve put in to secure this selection."
The inclusion of the figure skating team event at Gangwon 2024 adds further excitement, mirroring the Olympic Winter Games format and elevating the competition.
As anticipation builds, KWSC and Canada stand behind Kravets and Stark, cheering them on as they vie for success on the global stage.
