Adult CANSkate Program
This program is intended for adults with little or no skating
experience and is a great way to get started, whether you are
interested in eventually figure skating, playing hockey, or just
skating for recreation and exercise. Skaters are divided
into groups according to their ability and taught basic skating
skills in a group format. Ages 16+

Adult Learn to Dance
Program
For adults with some basic skating ability (e.g. forward edges
and crosscuts), this program is a great way to learn how to ice
dance. No previous dance knowledge is required, nor is a
partner. Skaters are divided into groups according to
their ability and taught ice dancing skills in a group format.
Ages 16+

Adult Social Dance Program
For adults with some knowledge of the Skate Canada dances (Dutch
Waltz, Canasta Tango, etc.), this program provides the change to
just ice dance for fun. Music is played for the
Preliminary through Gold dances and you can skate with or
without a partner. Don't worry if you only know a few of
the dances -- this is a great way to learn additional dances in
a relaxed environment! Skaters registered in this program
may also arrange for some private dance lessons on this session
if they wish, however the focus of the program is on
recreational social dancing.

This program is intended for adults who are ready to take
private lessons and are interested in progressing in the areas

the Adult CANSkate Program.

Day Ice
This ice time is unstructured and is suitable for individual
practice and private lessons. There are no pre-requisites
for skating on Day Ice, however please note that these sessions
are open to all club members, from very young children to senior
competitive skaters working on triple jumps. Some
beginning adults may find this environment a little intimidating
at first. Please contact the KWSC office for more
information on Day Ice.

Adult Synchronized Skating
Synchronized skating is a great way to meet new people and compete
as part of a team. The adult festival synchro team, the
KW Krystals on Ice, usually does two competitions per year.
No previous synchro experience is required, however skaters should
be comfortable with forward and backward crosscuts, three turns,
and mohawks. The team coach will assess each skater's level at the
first practice of the season.
There is also a competitive adult team (NEXXICE). See their website
for more information.
See our Synchronized Skating
page for more information.
