COVID-19 Update: Stay At Home Order Extension

May 14, 2021

Dear Skating Families,

As you may already know, yesterday the province of Ontario extended the Stay At Home order until June 2. We are planning to begin running programs again as soon as we are permitted to do so. At this time, skating sessions will begin no earlier than Monday June 7.

The previous sessions you already registered for (spring skating season) will hopefully begin that day, and run until Canada Day. If time does not permit us to run the weeks for which you’ve already paid, we will credit your account. KWSC will begin that process once we receive an update closer to June 2. Then we will know how many weeks for which each skater will receive a credit.

In the meantime, we are putting together plans to offer online fitness classes to our competitive skaters in the month of June – regardless of whether or not we are back on the ice in June. Our team is also busy planning our summer programs including power skating, learn to skate and competitive programming.

I know this time has been difficult and many of us have struggled with mental health. Please know that we look forward to welcoming you back to the rink as soon as we can. I am sure youth miss skating beside friends. This is just a reminder of a great organization that is there for kids 24/7: Kids Help Phone. Don’t hesitate to seek out support when you need it. It’s worth it. You’re worth it.

Until we can be together in person, watch our website for updates in the “News” section. Stay healthy.
