Programs Available:
Adult CanSkate
This program is intended for adults with little or no skating experience and is a great way to get started, whether you
are interested in eventually figure skating,
playing hockey, or just skating for recreation and exercise. Skaters are divided into groups according to their ability and taught basic skating
skills in a group format.
Adult Power Skating
For ages 18 and older. Designed for the recreational hockey or ringette player wishing to improve his/her game. Emphasis will be on the basic
components of hockey or ringette skills including: strides (forward and backward), stopping, and turning. More information
from the Twin City Hockey Skating School...
STARSkate
This structured program is suitable for adults interested in taking private lessons in Freeskate, Dance,
Skills and/or Interpretive. Junior, Intermediate, and Senior STARSkate sessions are offered, based on the skater's test level
and/or the permission of the STAR Team Leader. During these sessions, adults are on the ice with younger skaters. Skating level ranges
from Pre-Preliminary to Gold level. Please contact the KWSC Office for help in choosing the appropriate sessions.
Adult Social Dance
For adults with some knowledge of the Skate Canada dances (Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango, etc.), this
program provides the chance to just ice dance for fun. Music is played for the Preliminary through Gold dances and you
can skate with or without a partner. Don't worry if you only know a few of the dances - this is a great way to learn additional
dances in a relaxed environment! Skaters registered in this program may also arrange for some private dance lessons on
this session if they wish, however the focus of the program is on recreational social dancing.

Adult Social Ice Dance Day
Each Spring, the club hosts an Adult Social Ice Dance
Day called Eistanzfest. This day
features several hours of ice dancing along with social events,
such as dinner.
Adult dancers from all over Ontario and from the U.S. attend
this event.
Skate Canada Tests
Skate Canada offers a structured series of Freeskate,
Dance, Skills, and Interpretive tests which help skaters to
develop and improve their skating and also give skaters the
opportunity to measure their progress.
Competing Isn't Just For Kids!
There is a national Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships for adult singles
skaters, pairs, and ice dancers of all levels and all ages 25 and
over. There are also
several annual competitions in Western Ontario which
offer adult events.
Another way to compete is to join an adult
synchronized skating team. Contact the office for information on whether the club is currently offering an adult synchro team.
